I finally got my book bound! My mother is a big Jane Austen fan so I bound Sense and Sensibility for her.

For a run up for Halloween, I’m posting the book of magical things I made recently! I made it for a lucky little boy who has finally discovered Harry Potter. What better than a book full of magical and spooky things!

I’ve taken a break from card making and made some books! I finally got some leather suitable for bookbinding so I made this sketchbook.
Finally a book post! I have been making these little chapbooks a lot. They are so handy and quick to put together. These books are so simple and portable and I make them with different papers for writing and drawing so you’re ready when the mood hits you!

I make them in all sorts of sizes and shapes and I’m going to start making some super tiny ones. The most common size I make is one made from a half a sheet of letter paper. I make all my books completely by hand with no heavy machinery (though I would love a heavy duty guillotine cutter!) and I thought I’d give a taste of what goes into them.

There are a few ways to bind envelopes, the easiest being stab binding, but I needed more room to put stuff in my envelopes so I went with a variation on the Secret Belgian Binding.
This card was for my friend’s little girl, only 3 years old, and I really had no idea what to make for her. However, I’d been wanting to make an instant book as a card so I started there. I have all these great toy circus images that I got ages ago from The Vintage Workshop and I was able to use them all for this card!

This was my second book project. A result of a total obsession for over four months, I only took some time off from this because it was Christmas! I meant this to be a Christmas present, I did not meet that deadline. I used all my crafty skills to make these, and wow!
I got an idea to make a set of books for my niece. This idea set me deep down the rabbit hole of bookbinding and I will never look at books the same again.
My idea for my niece was complicated so I thought I would make at least one book before I dove into a big project. I came up with a book of Presidents!
