Pumpkin Still Life Card

Moving right through the holidays! My Thanksgiving card was based on the oh so classic pumpkin. And some bonus mushrooms.

Pumpkin Still Life cards

As usual this started with the image of the pumpkins. Another beautiful image from The Graphics Fairy, they are such a good resource!

I printed the image out, it was so good on its own, a very rich painting. Instead of edging with with a gold paint marker I was playing around with my metallic waxes and used that to edge the picture. I had to use washi tape to not pull up the printing from the photo paper. The was bled through the tape a bit, but I liked how it gave a bit of dimension to the gold.

Detail of pumpkin stamp

A pumpkin stamp! I think this also was one of those Michael’s stamp finds, a lovely pumpkin. I stamped and embossed with a deep purple powder that has a pearl finish that makes a nice alternative to black. I stamped the pumpkin on a shimmery cardstock and the colored the pumpkin with some markers.

Detail of die cut leaves and fabric background

I did two last things to finish the card, leaves and background fabric. I looked through my paper stash but wasn’t inspired so I went for some old canvas for painting that I’ve held on to for years. A mix of textures always ups the design of a card! And I added some leaves I die cut out of more shimmery metallic paper.

But wait there is more!

Mushroom cards

The bonus mushroom cards! Basically the same as the pumpkins but with mushrooms! The best are these little resin drops (when I bought them through Impress Cards and Crafts they were called Dew Drops but I don’t think those exist anymore) that work as fun glints of dew on the mushroom caps.

I did not make any new Christmas cards this year but I hoping to come up with some new fun card ideas, and bookbinding this year!
