Cross Stitch Flower Card

This year I was on a roll with my cross stitching! However, for this card, I used a piece that I had embroidered many years ago. I found it while I was digging around in my fabric stash and remembered that I had wanted to use it on a card for my mom!

Cross stitch flower card elements

The flower is cross stitched in linen embroidery floss on linen fabric. I used the nice shiny Decora floss to stitch the embroidery to the card. And I got out my jar of tiny flowers to put all over this card.

Detail of tiny paper flowers

My tiny flowers are all white so I sprayed some of them with my glitter sprays to get some different colors. I used Nuvo Crystal Drops for the centers (I think mine are getting a bit old.)

Detail of rhinestone bees

Not only did cover the card with tiny flowers, I had to add some rhinestone enamel bees! I mean why not? Of course they didn’t hang the way I wanted them too, but I didn’t want to add any glue or sticky stuff on the embroidery.

I also found a use for this fun psychedelic paper that I have (I think there is a melting groovy butterfly under there, but who can be sure!)

Finished Cross Stitch Flower card

All done! It is nice to make a card that uses something that you have had hanging about for awhile. I love to use things up!
