Dogwood Easter Card

[Here is a revisiting of my 2021 Easter card, it was so beautiful

I have been on a flower kick this year and my Easter card was no exception!

I wanted to have layers of flowers so I started with a vintage image of azaleas and some drawings. At first I was drawing lilies, the classic Easter flower, but then I started drawing dogwood flowers and that was the right flower. I made a clean pen and ink drawing and then scanned it into my computer. I was then able to make my Silhouette cutting machine draw the image using the Foil Quill accessory and cut the image out.

The program abstracted my drawing a bit, but I liked it. I used a champagne gold foil on this great metallic paper from Neenah and I was very pleased with the results.

Stamped crosses

I stamped a bunch of crosses, all on metallic cardstock, and started to put the card together.

Detail of flower centers

For the centers of the flowers I used some Nuvo Crystal Drops in Antique Rose to add some dimension. A piece of velum over the image gave the card some layery depth and I popped the gold embossed cross up with some foam tape.

I added a hymn verse and the other cross and a printed out sentiment to the inside of the card and they were done!

The finished cards, they turned out even better than I imagined and I hope they give some joy to everyone I sent them to!
