Tree and Snowflake Card

[I hope you are getting ready for Christmas, it’s almost here! Here’s some festive inspiration. Originally posted 12/14/2019]

It is time for my Christmas card! As soon as I got my Foil Quill this summer, I knew I wanted to use it heavily for my Christmas cards and I did. Lots of sparkle for this holiday season!

Tree and Snowflake card detail

The watercolor background with a tree was the basic idea behind this card. Each background was painted on watercolor paper and are all different. At first I thought they could be simple just a tree, but after foiling the tree directly onto the background, I knew that it was going to be much more complicated!

First I realized that I had to put the tree on another paper and vellum still let the background show through. Having the tree on a separate piece also allowed for foil designs on the background too. The backgrounds, the tree and all the foil was cut and foiled on my Silhouette Portrait, it can’t be beat for mass production of cards! The tree designs I had purchased from the Silhouette store.

There was a rather large blank spot on the upper right so I cut out a bunch of snowflakes out of glitter card stock. I used my die cut machine with the Tim Holtz snowflake dies.

Embossed "Merry Christmas"

For the inside of the card I used this stamp with red ink and clear embossing powder. It turned out very nice and shiney!

And of course, right at the end, after I had assembled all the cards I wanted to add one more thing! I stamped and cut out this “Joy” stamp and they just felt more finished.

The finished card!

Each card became truly unique!

Merry Christmas!
