[This card is still one of my favorite Halloween cards so it deserves a repost! Originally posted October 20, 2021]
This is the card that I have been wanting to make for years and this year I decided to just make it! A Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde spinner card, what better for Halloween!
The key to this card was the images. I did a lot of searching for just the right ones, I had a brief moment of wanting to draw my own, but people are not my strong suit. I first found the Jekyll portrait by Steven Noble and it was perfect. Unfortunately he did not draw a Hyde, but I found this amazingly creepy Hyde by StarMoonCow and it is super scary.
To make the spinner I cut everything out on my Silhouette cutter. The faces were print and cut and the circles for the base and the rings to go on the opening on the card were cut out of cardstock.
I needed backgrounds for each personality so I found in my library of images the house image and the bat and cliff image. I believe both of which I got from The Graphics Fairy. I added some interest to the images, some glitter spray on the bats and some metallic wax (both of my own recipes) and to top it all off, some glitter!
The card itself I cut from kraft cardstock and added some shimmer with more glitter sprays. I had to press the cardstock after all the sprays because they curled all up from being damp.
I liked the spotty look the sprays gave the cards. I then started to assemble the cards. I temporarily attached the background images, one on each side of the front flap and then cut out the circle where the spinner was to go.
I had also added and additional layer to the front with a gate printed out on acetate. I then took the images off, glued the spinners on (I sandwiched thread between the two face images and then glued the string to the card very carefully and insuring that the spinner would still spin) and then put the background images back on.
To secure the images I used tiny black grommets that I sanded to make them more interesting.
The finished card!

The inside greeting of the card I used a fun test tube stamp and a custom made Halloween greeting stamp.
There was a reason why I sat on this card for awhile, I knew it was going to be a lot of work!

Bonus Card!
Not only did I make these cards, I made a variation. The Hyde image did not seem appropriate for all the people that I was sending to, so I made a bat woman version. Everything else is the same, only the spinner images are different.
I hope you enjoyed these cards and have a Happy Halloween!
