Poppy Card

It was a long summer without my supplies, but I managed to do quite a lot! This is the last card from this summer, a birthday card for my sister featuring poppies!

This card started with the poppies. I had some photos that I had taken of some beautiful pink poppies in Salt Lake city a few years back. I had plenty of paper so I started drawing. I had no way to color it at hand, but I did have my printer, so with some computer magic I was able to digitally watercolor my drawing. The black line drawing was what I scanned in and the color was all done on the computer with Affinity Photo.

With the poppies colored and printed out I could make the rest of the card. I did take a trip to Joann Fabrics and picked up some papers and some chipboard cut outs to flesh out the card.

Sewing the image to the card

I glued the background paper but I thought it would be fun to sew the image onto the card. And, of course, this was what I had to work with! I used a safety pin to pre-punch the holes and got to stitching. Then I glued on the cut outs.

They were very fun, I liked the graphic style of them flying around the poppies.

For the inside of the card I used the snail paper for the background and I used some lip color to boarder the paper, you get creative when you are limited! I decided not to print out the greeting, I hand wrote it instead and sewed it to the card as well.

The finished card! I love putting my own drawings on a card, I just need to draw more!
