Orchid Girl Card

[Mother’s day is coming soon! Here is a great card I made for my mom a couple years back, she loves flowers and there is such good vintage imagery out there. Originally posted 5/20/19]

Some people send their mothers flowers for Mother’s Day, I’m not one of those people, but I did send my mother a floral card! I went through my images and got out my Silhouette cutter and went to work.

“Mother” cut out of adhesive gold foil and applied on card stock

The image I used is of these beautiful women dressed as flowers in what I believe is an old advertisement. I went a little crazy cutting out layers of the image on my Silhouette Portrait, but it was fun.

I used the print and cut function to print out the image and then cut the parts I wanted to layer. For the girl I cut out some thick card stock to help raise her up a bit. The effect was subtle but it worked. I also cut out the inset the girl was in and layered it up too. To jazz it up even more I added some glitter!

The card needed something else, some text, so naturally I needed to get some new fonts! I already had a Victorian type font for the inside of the card but I wanted something bulkier for the outside of the card.

I found this wonderful font, Royal Signage, and I cut “Mother” out of gold foil and then the surround out of card stock. I used foam squares to bump it out even higher than the rest of the card. I’m sure to use this font again, its so great!

I like to think of my mother as a beautiful flower girl!
