Bee and Butterfly Card

[This is my Easter card from a couple years ago. I am definitely seeing my love of bees repeated here! Originally posted 4/28/2019]

This year for Easter I decided to do a springy fun card.  I got a bee image and some insect stamps and got started!

The beehive image is the element that I designed the card around. I needed a good springy paper to go with it and I didn’t have anything that was inspiring. So I got out some stamps and went to work making my own pattern!

Inked and stamped paper

I used a resist technique by stamping with clear embossing ink and using clear embossing powder, then spraying the paper with various inks.  You then iron off the embossing (a Tim Holtz technique,) which removes the raised embossing and flattens out the paper.  It gave the stamps a nature print look that was very cool.

I also used my Silhouette quite a bit for these cards. I used the PixScan function and mat to cut out my stamped images. The butterfly and the bee stamps were all cut out using the Silhouette. I also cut out the frame papers with it because why not!

The butterflies were stamped on velum and I tried to make them as dimensional as possible on the card.

Color was added to the black and white hive image

I couldn’t resist adding some ant stamps at the bottom. So cute!
