Flip Calendar

I am a calendar person. I always get at least one or two every year. Last year I picked up this cute little flip calendar that I loved having on my desk and I was going to look for a new one when I thought: Make your own! I was able to repurpose parts of the old calendar, make some new pages, and here it is!

I will admit, this is not my first calendar. Usually I make a book type, planner calendar every year, and not a wall calendar, so I don’t really know why I haven’t made the leap. This one is good size and easy for me to handle.

This is the stand/base that I was reusing from the old calendar. I used a knitting needle to spread the spiral binding open and was able to pull the old pages out. Goodbye 2020! Make room for 2021!

I then used the old pages to make a pattern for the page size and placement of the holes. Then I had to get to work on the computer. I designed the whole project in Affinity Designer and originally I was just going to print the pages out, pictures and everything. After some trial and error, different paper and cutting techniques, I decided the pictures would look best if I printed them out separately.

So then I was able to start printing and cutting the pages. I used my trusty Silhouette Portrait to cut out the pages on a cream colored cardstock.

I didn’t think I would go for flowers, but I came across these Japanese Woodblock Flower Prints that I had picked up from Dover publications and just had to use them. I printed them out on a matte photo paper that really showed off the beautiful colors. And of course, I had to give them a nice gold accent.

So the last thing was to load them up on the stand (making sure they were in the right order) and then press the spiral binding back together.

Once I got everything figured out it did not take that long to put together. I am hoping to create another calendar on the same stand next year!
