Ok, so I meant to post the book I finished binding, but Mother’s Day is coming up! So here is the card I made for my mom this year. She got a lovely bouquet of flowers!

Really this card started with the tea cup. I wanted to do a tea theme, I have vintage tea cup images and some tea cups to cut out on my Silhouette cutting machine, and flowers are always a nice thing to put on a Mother’s Day card. Then I went super dimensional!
I used one of the tea cup files I have for my cutting machine and cut it out of both cardstock and printed velum. The cardstock one had some tabs to glue it to the card and the velum gave it a more luminous china look.

Some gold accents defined the cup and a bunch of foam tape helped support the curve and helped hold in the flowers.
Now for the flowers! I have made full size crepe paper flowers before, so I used the same techniques. The trick was how to cut out a bunch of tiny petals without loosing my mind. I ended up using one of my flower dies to cut out the petals to start with, to get the nice petal edges. Then I trimmed down the sides to make a more petal shape. The nice thing about the thin crepe paper is I was able to cut all six petals at the same time!
I then just glued the petals to some floral wire around a fringy center and the flowers were done! I also used a die to cut out some leaves to add some foliage.
The card needed a little something more so I stamped and cut out a bunch of butterflies. They added a nice pop of color!

On the inside I used this fun Mother’s day stamp and some homemade background paper.

The card all together!

It is always fun to design a card free of restraints, like having to shove it into an envelope!
Happy Mother’s Day!
