This year for my sister’s birthday card I thought use a theme I hadn’t used in awhile, roosters! I also had an idea to incorporate metal into the card, I hadn’t utilized that for a long time, so now I’m on a patina-ed metal kick!

Here were my supplies! I used a store bought patina treatment, it is rather old but it still worked. It made the copper a nice green which worked with the more country feel I was going for. The rooster is a stamp (from an old Anna Griffin set, I used another from the set inside the card as well) which a discovered could be used directly on my ink-jet Lazertran! The ink was pigment based and it worked perfectly.

Just a rectangle seemed kinda boring – and the scrap I was using wasn’t quite big enough – so used a fancy corner punch on the rooster image. A little of the Lazertran image always seems to rub off on a textured surface (you have to be very careful when you rub it down) but usually it just adds a bit of age which is nice.

I was having fun with the punches so I pulled out this edge punch to make a lacy band, and to make fun corners on the decorative paper. The flowers, however, were cut on my die cutting machine, the embossed details are so nice. Oh, and those cute chicks? Also from the Anna Griffin set, so good!

So the decorative paper I used on the front was a double sided cardstock which I thought would make a fun detail on the inside. It turned out great, the sentiments were in just the spots. The “Happy Birthday” was printed, and the sun was another stamp from the set.

The finished card! Such a nice, fun sunny piece!
