For Father’s day this year I first wanted to do a western themed card; something my Dad would like, but as I was designing it I wanted something a bit more personal so I ended up making a military themed card.

The idea was to make a card similar to my Mother’s Day card so I had the basic layout. I’ve been playing with metal lately so I took advantage of it and did a bunch of experiments with patinas so I could choose my favorite for the card.

I use very thin metal (just a bit thicker than foil,) so I can use it almost just like paper.
Then I printed out my photo on inkjet Lazertran, which is a great medium for transferring images onto metal, but has it’s own quirks. The first photo got too scratched to use when I put it on the metal (the patinas have a bit of texture so you have to be careful,) and I had to redo it.

Like my Mother’s card I cut out the word “Father” on my Silhouette out of copper foil and used foam dots to layer it up. The front needed something so I added some dangley charms to jazz it up even more!
The finished card! The stamp I used on the inside was not entirely on theme but I wanted to use it anyway!
