Envelope Book

Today I am sharing the envelope book I made. I use it for my budgeting and my old one was all ripped up and sad so naturally I made a new one! There are a few ways to bind envelopes, the easiest being stab binding, but I needed more room to put stuff in my envelopes so I went with a variation on the Secret Belgian Binding.

Envelope Book1

I started with the covers and I used the Top Secret Belgian Binding technique I found at the Herringbone Bindery blog. The cord is nicely hidden in the covers and looks so nice! I then cut the envelopes out on my Silhouette machine using the print and cut option to get my text the way I wanted on them.

From doing a previous project I had found that while you can bind an already made envelope into a book, it is much easier to do it before you glue them. I treated each envelope as a separate signature and bound them each individually into the spine so if an envelope wears out, I can replace it without having to rebind the whole book.

Here are all the envelopes in the book before I glued them.
